The Solstice Singers will present a light and celebratory program for Motherís Day, followed by strawberry shortcake, at the West Falmouth Library on Saturday May 9 at 7:00 p.m.

The Solstice Singers are a group of amateur musicians from southeastern Massachusetts who have been entertaining Cape Cod audiences with performances in the Renaissance style for over two decades. The program for Motherís Day includes Renaissance songs and madrigals, riddles, and poetry, as well as an elegant garland dance and a whimsical skit. The Solstice Singersí spring performances are inspired by the medieval Book of Hours, with a song for every month of the year. This year, the Book of Hours will have a botanical theme, with each song pertaining to a different plant Ė flower, woodland, or crop.

Joining the Solstice Singers will be renowned recorder player, Jan Elliott of Woods Hole, and accomplished percussionist Lisa Esperson of Falmouth.

The performance will be capped by a dessert reception featuring strawberry shortcake in the library hall.

Tickets are $15 at the door (students $5).

The Solstice Singers is grateful for the generous support received from The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod , the Falmouth Cultural Council , and the Woods Hole Foundation.
